Karnaphuli Water Supply Project

Image
The Karnaphuli Water Supply Project is a major infrastructure initiative undertaken by Chattogram WASA (CWASA), with financial support from Japan International Cooperation Agency . This landmark project aims to meet up to 80% of the potable water demand of Chattogram , significantly improving urban water security and public health. In this post, I am sharing a series of images highlighting key components and engineering features of the project: Image 1: A butterfly valve (blue), used for flow regulation and isolation within the pipeline system. Image 2: A double orifice air valve installed on a 400 mm diameter pipeline, designed to release trapped air and maintain efficient flow. Image 3: A gate valve, typically used for on/off control of water flow in the network. Images 4–7: The water bridge crossing over the Halda River , consisting of a 1200 mm diameter steel pipeline—an important structural element ensuring uninterrupted transmission. Images 8–13: Overcrossing s...

Butterfly Valve Installation and Chamber Construction

Image
How to install a Butterfly Valve and construct Chamber? Here I share some pictures describing procedures of Butterfly Valve installation and Chamber construction for 1200 mm diameter DI pipe. 1. 100mm thick cc casting with C20 concrete. Then make a layout for re-bar binding. 2. Then start re-bar binding according to drawing. In this case 16mm dia Grade 60 re-bars are used. Must maintain the c/c distance and clear cover. During bending the re-bar development length must have to maintain as per drawing. 3. When re-bar binding finish then the workmanship must be checked by the consultant. 4. After checked by the consultant start form setting. Use required size of block to maintain clear cover. Provide necessary support to prevent form failure during casting. In this case 75mm block are used.                                   5. Before casting check...
