Protection Concrete

Today I will share some pictures about pipe protection work in under crossing.


1. 300 mm thick Plain concrete casting with C25 concrete before pipe laying. In this case ready mix concrete was used.
                                   
                                      
                                       





 2. After curing for 7 days start DI pipe laying. 3. After pipe laying start form setting work. When form work finish proceed for  concrete casting around pipe(need 300 mm covering around the pipe surface) with C25 concrete.












 After curing for 7 days, remove form work and proceed for next work.

Then make a layout for re-bar binding. 2. Then start re-bar binding according to drawing. In this case 16mm dia Grade 60 re-bars are used. Must maintain the c/c distance and clear cover. During bending the re-bar development length must have to maintain as per drawing. 3. When re-bar binding finish then the workmanship must be checked by the consultant. 4. After checked by the consultant start form setting. Use required size of block to maintain clear cover. Provide necessary support to prevent form failure during casting. In this case 75mm block are used.                                   5. Before casting check the slump value of concrete. Take cube for compression strength test.

Air Valve Chamber Construction

How to construct a Air Valve Chamber? Air valve in water pipeline construction is generally placed in higher position to release air maintaining the water flow through pipe smooth. Here I will tell you about the construction method of air valve chamber in case Ductile Iron Pipe. For your better understanding I have shared pictures of construction work with details. 1. Installation of All Socket Tee: First we have install the all socket tee DI pipe and joint a cutting pipe with tee. From center of tee pipe keep at least 3m clear to both sides for the ease of form setting work. After installation check the elevation of pipe and to maintain it use heavy sheet pile or H-beam and wire to hold the tee pipe.   2. After that start form setting around the Tee for concrete casting. The casting dimension is 2.2m x 2.2m x 1.7m. Keep 300mm clear at the bottom of pipe. 3. Concrete casting with C25 concrete.

COLLAR JOINT

What is Collar Joint in DI Pipeline construction? Collar joint is a type of joint which is generally used in case of DI Pipeline construction. The components of collar joint are; 1. Collar, 2. T-head bolts, 3. Gland 4. Rubber Gasket. Generally when there are different contractors work on a large pipeline construction or during bridge, culvert crossing it is not possible to carry on the work at same time which results in different segment of a same pipeline. To joint those segments we need to use collar. For this joint, it is necessary to maintain same elevation and alignment on both sides of the joint otherwise joint can not be done. To do this we need to expose both side when there is about at least 30m gap. During collar joint there are some checks we must have to perform which are gasket check, joint gap checking which is should be less than 5mm.
